Okuma Aveon Spinning Reels

Okuma Spinning reels are one of the most commonly used weapons for targeting species in both freshwater and saltwater fisheries. Recent advancement in reel technology have catapulted the application process for spinning reels with today's anglers. from throwing top water baits in the Gulf of Mexico for Yellowfin and Blackfin tuna or pitching baits to schooling dolphin in Florida to live baiting Sailfish with our bait-feeding reels in Costa Rica, spinning reels have definitely found their place on today's offshore fishing grounds. Moving inland, the popular techniques used by inshore fisherman to target Speckled trout and Redfish have placed high demands on tackle. Technological advancements in both corrosion resistance, durability and strength are crucial for inshore fisherman and have helped to set the bar for what can be expected in spinning reels today. Throughout history spinning reels have been most commonly known for their traditional fresh water applications. This popularity continues to grow with techniques such as the drop-shot made famous around the country by professional bass fisherman and techniques such as side drifting for trophy Steelhead in the rivers of the Northwest. The limits are endless with the vast number of growing techniques resulting from today's technological advancements.

Okuma's 2005 spinning line-up will set new levels for what anglers can expect in both quality and function in today's market. Form patented systems such as our new Elliptical oscillation system to our new rigid, light weight AlumiLite frame construction, Okuma products are designed with precision for ultimate durability, strength and smoothness.

Terminology Explained

AlumiLite : AlumiLite construction incorporates Okuma's new aluminum body technology on both spinning  and baitcasting reels. Aluminum frames are very rigid and can withstand tremendous amounts of pressure and torque. these frames also provide for precise tolerances between moving parts for ultimate smoothness and durability.

RES II :  Okuma's Rotor Equalization system is a computer balancing system that precisely balances the rotor for smooth wobble free retrieves.

QuickSet Anti-Reverse : This system eliminates all handle back play by using a stainless steel one-way roller bearing. This roller bearing engages in one direct to offer rock solid hook sets.

EFR II : The Even Flow Roller system utilizes a ball bearing under the line roller to maximize efficiency. This roller helps reduce line twists by freely rolling over the line roller without friction. Without this feature line naturally twists.

Bait Feeding System : The patented bait feeding system allows anglers to fish their live bait in freespool mode. An adjustable micro drag at the rear of the reel allows angles to apply more or less tension on their bait depending on their application. The On/Off lever at the rear of the reel engages or disengages the bait feeding system. Once a fish takes your bait and starts running a simple turn of the handle engages the bait feeding system into gear so you can utilize your main drag system and fight your fish.Carp & Catfish specimen hunters will find these reels particular useful in taming their quarry.

E2BB : These bearings feature corrosion free, ceramic balls which have been tested to be 10 times more resistant than standard stainless steel ball bearings. The ceramic balls create less friction and heat than traditional stainless steel balls, providing maximum smoothness and long life durability.

HPB : HPB bearings will outlast any traditional style stainless steel bearing on the market and will most likely outlast the angler himself. These hybrid bearings will be found on most Okuma models promoted for saltwater use. These bearings feature high marine grade 316 stainless steel balls and housings for the ultimate in corrosion resistance and strength.

DFD : DFD incorporates both surfaces of the spool to equalize the force for maximum drag pressure and ultimate smoothness. Mounted in the top of the spool and protected by a water tight seal is a multi-disk drag system comprised of both stainless steel and Japanese felt drag washers.

EOS : EOS is a revolutionary technological development in spinning reel oscillation systems. The EOS design uses elliptical shaped oscillation gears which provide exceptional line lay, improved smoothness and increased strength.
